CREATING A LIST OF SOURCES

The list of sources in Russian is drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the national standards of the Russian Federation GOST R 7.0.5-2008 “Bibliographic reference. General requirements and rules of compilation”, GOSTR 7.0.100-2018 “Bibliographic record. Bibliographic description. General rules and requirements”.

Basic rules for creating a list of sources in Russian

  1. Sources are numbered and arranged in the order of citation in the text. When referring to a source in the text of the article, its serial number is given in square brackets ([5], [5–10], [5, с. 11]).
  2. The English-language sources cited in the article are provided without translation into Russian according to the general rules of bibliographic reference design.
  3. If a DOI is assigned to a source, it must be specified at the end.
  4. The list of sources should contain at least 10 and no more than 20 names (up to 30 sources are allowed in a scientific review).
  5. The list includes only scientific sources: books, monographs, dissertations, abstracts, scientific articles, abstracts, and archival materials.
  6. It is not recommended to include textbooks, regulations, GOST standards, patents, or news portals in the list of sources. If necessary, a footnote is provided to refer to such sources.
  7. The share of self-citations and references to works by one author should not exceed 25 % of the total number of references.

The procedure for making a bibliographic reference

1. The authors

a) 1-3 authors

  • are indicated at the beginning of the link;
  • no comma is placed after the surname, the first name and patronymic are given in the form of initials, and the authors are not repeated in the responsibility after the slash.

b) 4 authors

  • the link is made to the name of the source;
  • all four authors are indicated in the responsibility after the slash. 

c) 5 or more authors

  • the link is made to the name of the source;
  • in the responsibility after the slash, the first three authors are indicated with the words [et al.]. If necessary, you can specify all the authors.

2. Responsibility (editors, compilers, organizations, etc.)

  • 1-3 editors, compilers, etc. they are indicated after a slash (/);
  • 3 or more – it is allowed to shorten to the first [et al.].

3. Place of publication

  • only Moscow (M.), Saint Petersburg (St. Petersburg), Nizhny Novgorod (N. Novgorod), Rostov-on-Don (Rostov-on/D) are abbreviated. All other cities should be written in full.

4. Online resources

Links are designed according to the general rules, but are added:

  • the resource ‘s email address (URL);
  • date of request in parentheses. 

5. Electronic version of the work of employees of Vyatka State Agrotechnological University

It is issued according to the general rules, but the email address of the resource for these sources is the same for everyone URL: http://46.183.163.35/MarcWeb2/Found.asp (this is a link to the electronic catalog of the library, and not to the book itself, because access to the electronic catalog of the library is only for registered users).

Design References

In the online publication “Vestnik Vyatskogo GATU”, the list of cited sources in English (References) is drawn up in accordance with the adapted version of the Vancouver Citation Style. References is placed after the list of sources in Russian separated by an empty line. Only Russian-language sources are translated, and foreign sources are adapted to the accepted style.

Basic rules for the design of References

  1. The sources in the list are numbered and arranged in the order of citation in the text. The numbering in References corresponds to the numbering in the list of sources in Russian.
  2. All authors are indicated at the beginning of the link separated by commas. No dots are placed after the initials of the authors.
  3. “And”, & are not used when listing authors.
  4. If there are more than six authors, specify the names of the first three and add et al.

  • If the publication is edited, then it is necessary to use (ed. / eds.). If the publication is not the first, then indicate the 2nd ed., 3rd ed., 4th ed., etc.

  • The names of sections, articles, and other materials are separated by dots, and the “/” symbol is not used. Capitalize only proper names and the first words in the names.
  • If a DOI is assigned to a source, it must be specified at the end.

Rules for describing Russian-language sources in References

  1. The names of the authors are transliterated. The BGN transliteration standard (for example, on the website https://www.translit.site/ru/type/bgn-pcgn-system).
  2. Titles of articles in scientific journals are translated into English.
  3. Book titles and titles of articles in conference proceedings are transliterated and translated into English. The translated version of the name is indicated after the = sign.
  4. Journal titles are transliterated, but not translated (if the journal does not officially use a parallel English-language title, the information is checked on the publication’s website). If there is an official name of the journal in English, it is indicated after the = sign.
  5. Cities whose names have an English spelling should be given in English (Moscow, etc.).
  6. Conference titles are transliterated and translated into English. The translated version of the name is indicated after the = sign.
  7. At the end of the bibliographic description of the Russian-language source, an indication is given of the language of the article in parentheses (In Russ.). If the list contains sources in other languages (Belarusian, French, etc., except English), then the original language is indicated after the output data (In Belarus.), (In French).
