ANALYSIS OF ANTIVIRAL ANTIBODY LEVELS IN WILD AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS FROM SMOLENSKOYE POZERYE NATIONAL PARK
31.03.2026
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to study the antibodies level to viruses of infectious
rhinotracheitis, viral diarrhea and parainfluenza-3 in farm animals vaccinated with live vaccines from territories in close proximity to the Smolenskoye Poozerie National Park and bison living there. It
was found out that when immunizing cows with live associated vaccines, which include attenuated
viruses of diarrhea, parainfluenza-3, infectious rhinotracheitis, respiratory syncytial virus, the level
of antibodies in calves ranged from 4.8 to 5.5 log2, in cows – from 6.6 to 7.8 log2, the percentage of
protection was mainly from 40 to 100 %. Bison introduced and reintroduced in Smolensk region
developed antibodies to viruses of infectious rhinotracheitis, viral diarrhea, parainfluenza-3 cattle in
fairly high titers. In blood sera from bison of Smolensk region, the titer of antibodies to the infectious
rhinotracheitis virus is 5.5 log2, viral diarrhea is 5.0 log2, parainfluenza-3 is 4.5 log2. This indicates
that during their habitat, the animals had contact with cattle, but although the animals did not get sick,
they remained infected with the above viruses.
